Another Great Year (September KOL)
Tue, September 4, 2012
Around this time of year, I often find the music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach’s “Return Again” reverberating in my head:
“Return again, return again, return to the land of your soul. Return to who you are, return to what you are, return to where you are, born and reborn…”
It is a haunting melody, one perfect for this time of year, a time of contemplation. We return, hopefully refreshed, from summer, ready for a new school year to begin, ready for our new year to begin as summer turns to fall. Our physical world changes as well, the heat of the summer gives way to falling leaves, colors change, even the smells change. As we make our way through another transition, may we take the moments we need to return, to find our way back and to enter this season of forgiveness, repentance with hearts and minds open to the majesty of the God.
This transition from summer to fall also brings the return of Religious School on Sunday, September 9thand Hebrew School on Tuesday, September 11th.
Parents, please join us for our Open House these first two days, where you will get a chance to chat with your child(ren)’s teacher(s) and find out all of the things they will be learning in the coming year!
I can’t wait to put the faces to all of the names I have memorized through class and madrichim placement, to be a part of the wonderful school community that I have been told about from those of you I have met over the summer, to witness the great learning and fun that all of our truly amazing teachers will accomplish. It is going to be another great year at TBS!
