Policies Relating to Dues, Fees, Tuition and Special Fees
Schedule of Dues and Fees:
The schedule of dues and fees is set by the membership at the annual meeting, when acting on budget recommendations from the Board of Directors.
The Temple fiscal year runs from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. Members of record as of July 1, 2016 are obligated to pay their full annual dues even if they resign their membership before June 30, 2017. NOTE: If you join between July 1 and September 30, you are obligated to pay for the entire year, including the entire first quarter. Unless you have children who will be in our religious school, if you join between October 1 and June 30, you are obligated to pay the fees for the quarter in which you join, plus the rest of the membership year. If your children will enter our religious school in the fall, you are obligated to pay for the entire fiscal year. (The only exception to this policy will be for families relocating here during the school year.)
As a convenience for our members, members have the option of being billed on a Quarterly, Monthly or Annual basis. (L’dor V’dor members are billed on an annual basis only.) For members electing the Quarterly option, one-fourth of their total annual obligation is billed at the beginning of each calendar quarter, i.e., on or about July 1, October 1, January 1, and April 1. Members choosing the Monthly option will be billed on the first of each month. The Annual option is billed on or about July 1. Again, note that while dues and fees may be billed monthly, quarterly, or even annually, at the member’s option, the total annual amount represents the member’s obligation to Temple B’nai Shalom for that membership year and must be paid in full.
Payment is due upon receipt of the bill. Payments are considered overdue 31 days after the invoice date. Members may prepay dues and fees at any time. Please remit payments made payable to Temple B'nai Shalom and mail to Kesef Accounting Service at P.O. Box 159, Montvale, New Jersey 07645. Direct all billing questions to Lynn Richmond at 703-764-2901 or [email protected]
Religious School fees must be paid in full when children are registered.
To remain in Good Standing, members must be current in payment of dues and fees. This means that the current quarter’s dues and fees must be paid no later than 60 days after the invoice date.
Members who are not current in payment of dues and fees are not in Good Standing and will not receive Rabbinical Services or High Holy Day tickets, cannot enroll or retain children in Religious School, and cannot vote at the Annual Meeting or at any Special Meetings. In extreme cases, the Board may, at its option, decide to terminate membership for members substantially in arrears.
Members who are unable to remain current in paying their dues and building fund should contact the Treasurer to discuss the situation. Alternate arrangements may be possible. Attached here is our Financial Consideration application.
Members should consult their tax advisors regarding deductibility of dues and fees. A statement of all payments made to the Temple is mailed to members at calendar year-end.
