Whether relocating to Northern Virginia, rediscovering Jewish roots, or initiating religious study, Jewish families and individuals seek membership at Temple B'nai Shalom because the congregation offers both the religious environment and the community to share the most meaningful moments in life, whether joyous or sad, communal or introspective.

Interested in becoming a member?Temple B'nai Shalom welcomes those who share a commitment to Reform Judaism. TBS members have opportunities to enhance their knowledge and love of Judaism, and to deepen their identification and commitment, by enjoying an association with others that grows from participating together in Temple activities, including special events, group affiliations, study, and worship.TBS programs are as varied as individual members themselves. Offerings include Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Interfaith Couples, Social Action, Prime Timers, Choir, Youth Groups (5th-12th grades), Religious School, and Adult Education. And opportunities to engage with fellow congregants—whether in joyous, song-filled services or more social gatherings––take place throughout the year. Special programs include Eat, Stay and Pray in August; Membership BBQ in September; Sukkah Havdalah in October; and monthly Mothers Support Group, Tot Shabbat, Family Services, and Cradle Roll.

As a house of prayer, Temple B'nai Shalom:

Provides rabbis for spiritual leadership. Fosters participation in our services. Places spirituality, prayer, and music at the center of worship. Promotes the future of Reform Judaism, reflected in our children's participation in services and our dedication to fostering their spiritual identity.

As a house of study, Temple B'nai Shalom:

Values lifelong Jewish learningInstills excitement and reinforces the importance of learning in our children through our religious school and throughout their temple life offers a variety of learning opportunities to adults of all ages.

As a caring community, Temple B'nai Shalom:

Inspires active participation through volunteerism, tzedakah, and tikkun olam. Welcomes singles, couples, families, and seniors in this inclusive community. Celebrates with each other on joyous occasions and cares for each other when illness strikes and losses occur. Recognizes the value of each member and the relationship of members to one another. Values our synagogue as a place to gather and as our sacred space.
