Hebrew School

Hebrew School Temple B'nai ShalomWe are incredibly proud of our Hebrew school at Temple B’nai Shalom. Our prayerbook-based program begins formally in the third grade, although students begin learning the Hebrew language in Pre-Kindergarten. Each class includes activities that meet the needs of all types of learners. Our fourth, fifth and sixth grade classes are a combination of whole group instruction and small group activities.

As part of each class, the students are offered different learning opportunities which help reinforce the prayers they have been taught. In addition, the fifth and sixth graders have the opportunity to take turns leading a short service each week.  In addition to continuing their study of the prayers they will need to know for their B’nai Mitzvah, in the sixth grade the students have the opportunity to explore their own spirituality, learn about the history of prayer, and discuss how they will make their B’nai Mitzvah meaningful. In the seventh grade, the students study a different Jewish value each week, and also explore the various themes we find in our Torah and how to make Torah a meaningful part of their lives.
