So much in September!

The rock band Green Day famously sang, “Wake me up when September ends.” Leaving aside the poignant meaning of their song, it’s a lyric that resonates with me each year as we come into this month. Wouldn’t it be great to continue summer just a little longer, hitting “snooze” for a month more?
But trust me when I say you do not want to sleep through September this year! We’ve already jump-started our TBS programmatic year. Our awesome “Back to Shul” Shabbat led into the exciting opening day of Religious School. Small group Hebrew has started its mid-week sessions. Students are already becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah on Shabbat mornings. Our choir has begun its rehearsals of High Holy Day music. And the office is in high gear preparing for the High Holy Days.
And September has so much more to come! Tonight, come for Shabbat as we welcome our new members who have joined the community in the past year. Sunday morning, join Rabbi Perlin for a special workshop on making the High Holy Days meaningful for our young children. Sunday afternoon, Brotherhood kicks off its year with a great program and Junior BeaSTY is going bowling. Sunday night, our amazing Post-Confirmation students meet for their first class. On Thursday, Sisterhood hosts its next Noontime Noshers. And then next Saturday night, Rabbi Perlin helps us prepare for the High Holy Day season with a special session for Selichot, followed by dedicating her portrait in the lobby. Then Rabbi Perlin, Cantor Lindsay, and I will lead our late-night Selichot Service, including changing the Torah mantles to their High Holy Day colors. And all that is just one week in September, and there is so much more!
So don’t miss out on all these great happenings in your TBS community. As we start the school year and prepare for the High Holy Days, there are so many great ways to connect. Can’t wait to see you soon!
