More Holidays to Celebrate!

There are more holidays for us to celebrate joyful Jewish living and learning!

The harvest festival of Sukkot starts this Monday night. After the introspection and reflection of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, the ancient rabbis declared Sukkot to be Z’man Simchateinu, a time of great rejoicing! Sukkot is a time of thanksgiving, offering gratitude for all the blessings we have in our lives. Hence the sukkah, decorated with fruits and vegetables from the fall harvest. We thank God and rejoice in the bounty we have received.

To celebrate, we are having “Pizza in the Hut” on Monday night, 6-7:30pm. Come join in fun Sukkot activities for all ages, including a pizza dinner and decorating the sukkah. Register TODAY using the link below so we know how much pizza to order.

Sukkot continues all week long and includes my favorite Oneg of the year. On Friday night, October 10, the Shabbat Oneg will be a pie-tasting festival. Bake or buy your favorite harvest- fruit pie (or any other) and come taste them all. That Friday night is also Volunteer Appreciation Shabbat, so come and let us thank you for being a blessing to our community!

Then the final holiday comes next Monday night as we mark Simchat Torah on Oct 13 at 6:30pm. We’ll celebrate with music and dancing with the Torah scrolls as we finish reading the Torah and begin again. Plus, we’ll consecrate our newest Religious School Students and honor our 7 th graders as they unroll an entire Torah scroll. It’s a fun night of celebration to conclude our holiday season.

Be sure to be with your TBS community for all these great holiday events.
