Rabbi Perlin at the White House

Rabbi Perlin was honored to be one of a delegation of sixteen Reform Jewish leaders invited to the White House yesterday to speak with the Jewish Chief of Staff, Jack Lew, and the White House Jewish liaison, Jarrod Bernstein, about issues of importance to us as Reform Jews.  She shared her impressions of this non-partisan visit with the Congregation during the July 20 Shabbat services. Regarding her vists and sermon Rabbi Perlin notes that “As a Reform movement, we have social justice passions and an abiding concern for the safety of Israel rooted in the values of Torah, far more than they represent any modern political agenda or party.  I hope to share my experience at the White House, through a unique lens, by putting it in the broader context of our Torah portion, and the values driving our national Reform Jewish agenda.”
